the art of akihito takuma

The art of japanese artist Akihito Takuma, Lines of Flight series.

"Following a year in Europe studying painting, I noticed how hard it was for paint to dry in Japan because of the high humidity. This made me more conscious of the environmental differences between the two places, and inspired me to make this work. Before the paint had dried, from top to bottom. Then I chose a landscape with a perspective that made the horizon seem as if it continued forever. It is my hope that in this work, order will be maintained but at the same time superseded, and the instant that a dynamic, positive and free form of energy is released might be expressed."

acey harper photography - the acrobat sublime

This series of work by photographer Acey Harper places acrobats in the most unimaginable and surreal positions in the most improbable of places - against the background of nature or the busy streets of New York.

These amazing human beings have been immortalised in Harper's book (Private Acts) The Acrobat Sublime through a series of intense, emotional images of the human body defying the laws of gravity.

Brace yourself, as you are in for a photographic treat!

bad weather :: people on a rainy day

What more refreshing to share with you today {as it is, an extremely hot day in Portugal!} but a photographic project entitled as 'bad weather'?

Photographer, Danny Santos, compiles images of people on a rainy day in his 'Shooting Strangers' mission.

Rain always provokes the most interesting and out of the ordinary situations, especially when it comes unannounced. People's reactions to sudden rainfall are very diverse: some get annoyed, and there are others who welcome it with a smile and take that moment as a blessing of being alive; some bring out their umbrellas whilst others simply let themselves get wet.

I found these images very fun and some even somewhat moving. Nonetheless, check them for yourself...it is an inspiring piece of work!

You can visit Danny Santos' website and follow all his work on his fanpage, too.

baby in great {photoshop} adventures

Swedish photographer Emil Nystrom has had the idea of photographing his baby girl, Signhild, in a very clever and super-fun series using Photoshop - putting her in the most daring situations and adventures.

Signhild will grow up to have one of the most original childhood photo albuns ever.

Take a look for yourself - I promise, it's impossible not to smile!

Check Emil's website for more of his work and also his facebook fanpage.
