recommended :: the grand budapest hotel

If, like me, you are a bugger for the beauty of simmetry, you then need to check Wes Anderson's latest masterpiece.
As a faithful fan of the man himself, every of his films really truly move me - in every sense - so this latest one wouldn't be any different.
Its richness of characters, colour palette, camera movements and always brilliant photography make it an experience in itself, which goes alongside the peculiar character-rich existentialist story .
As usual it offers us a golden cast, some of which are a recurring choice for the director - you have been accustomed to them, you have loved them that many often.. recommended...'her'
: film
Our movie recommendation for the weekend is: Her.
Whilst searching for the images to add to this post I read somewhere online: 'her', that movie about Joaquin Phoenix's moustache! Well, even though I found that truly amusing, it is rather much more than that.
It's a love story like no other and yet with so many resemblances. 'A lonely letter writer develops an unlikely relationship with his newly purchased operating system that's designed to meet his every need' {for more info on the movie check IMDb's link here}.
Here's my favourite quote from the movie, one of the last lines {so I hope it's not a spoiler}:
'Dear Catherine, I've been sitting here thinking about all the things I wanted to apologize to you for. All the pain we caused each other. Everything I put on you. cinema paradiso
Who has never seen 'Cinema Paradiso'?
This must be of the most memorable moments in cinema history...well, it should be - at least it is, in my opinion!
This 1988 Italian drama has music by Ennio Morricone, and one of his most moving pieces too.
The story behind this short, which is one of last moments of the film {spoiler alert is following!} is when Salvatore returns to Rome. We get to see the little boy now as a man and returning home. He watches a film reel and discovers that it is a very special montage containing all the romantic scenes that the priest once ordered to be cut from movies played at the cinema. Alfredo spliced all the sequences together to form a single film...and this is the moment this film full of hot scenes, love sequences and censured kisses is watched.
Just magical!

On the 4th of May was Audrey Hepburn's birthday. She would be 84.
You know her as one of the biggest stars of the silver screen, an altruistic being, a generous soul, who used her voice to the greater good in her many humanitarian projects.
She was also a truly inspiring woman. Strong and determined, successful and restless. Like all of us, defeated many times and raised many more. A {perhaps} fragile and soft appearance with a lioness courage inside.
She was, above all one of the greatest fashion icons of all times {she was indeed, a very classy lady!}
Hepburn has since been a protagonist in the blogosphere {the world wide world of blogs!} because of her inspirational quotes.

Life in a film {Amélie}
Last night I was privileged enough to see Yann Tiersen in concert. Yann’s new album ‘Skyline’ just came out last week and is far from the melodies and sweet nothings he whispers in his adorable and most famous soundtracks {Amelie & Good Bye Lenin!} but it was still such an enjoyable evening as he is, without a doubt, a master of sounds and instruments – a true example of ‘ear’ candy!
Anyway, it all has brought back my love for ‘Amélie’ - one of my favorite films of all time {I’m sure you have watched it but if not…please don’t miss your chance!}. This is a film that has everything I adore, the colours and photography, editing, the actors, the storyline {it’s about me, really, it is!}, the soundtrack and….yes, it is also in French! {swoon}
Yes I really adore it, and can you blame me? I actually feel in ‘love’ once the music starts playing and/or the film starts rolling!
