{Tutorial} DIY Chalkboard Mugs

This is a great tutorial using just porcelain chalkboard paint - no drawing or painting skills are necessary!

You will need:
A porcelain mug
Masking tape
Pebeo Porcelaine 150 Chalkboard paint
Soft bristle paint brush

How to:
one:: make sure your mug is clean and dry;

two:: use the masking tape to mask off the part of the mug you would like to leave blank {or you could skip this step and paint the whole mug};

three: apply the paint with the bush. If you mess up just wipe the paint away with a wet paper towel and try again. Please note that this particular porcelain paint says it’s not recommended for surfaces that come in contact with food although it is water based and non-toxic - which basically means you cannot paint the inside of the cup with it!

four:: as soon as you finish painting and before the paint is dry remove the tape to avoid peeling.

five:: let the paint dry for 24hours. Then, bake the mug according to the instructions on the paint package. After baking turn off the oven and leave the mug inside until it has gradually cooled to room temperature. After you bake it the paint is dishwasher and microwave safe.

six:: you should ‘chalk’ your mug before filling it with a hot beverage!
And you’re done!
A snazzy looking mug for your Christmas morning coffee…or, who knows, a smart diy tutorial for that extra last-minute gift!
