Remember Remember the 5th of November!

Today is Guy Fawkes Day // Bonfire Night which is a yearly event dedicated to bonfires and extravagant fireworks.
Its history begins with the events of 5th November 1605, when a ‘guy’ called Guy Fawkes, a member of the Gunpowder Plot, was arrested while guarding explosives the plotters had placed beneath the House of Lords – this plot, by the way, was a failed assassination attempt against King James I and the plan was to blow up the House of Lords during the State Opening of England’s Parliament on that day in November.

Celebrating the fact that King James I had survived the attempt on his life, people lit bonfires around London, and months later the introduction of a parliamentary act would enforce this as an annual public day of thanksgiving for the plot's failure... And today is that day!

Hope you enjoyed the tiny history lesson (sorry!) and if you’re in the UK have a great night of celebrations, stay safe and....enjoy the sparkles!!
